Oregon’s graduation rates are as varied as the state is large. Out of 140 schools, twenty have 90 % of students graduate, while in others 95% make the cut. But in general, only 77% of Oregon students graduate from high school, making the state the third worst in the country. The gubernatorial election is going to be an interesting one, not least because of the education crisis. Governor Brown inherited the problems already existing in the previous Governor’s office, and is now left holding the bag when it comes to attack ads from Republicans. Dr. Knute Buehler, a charismatic physician, is running against her under the GOP banner, though seemingly as “a nice guy” of the Republican persuasion. He appears to be pro-choice and support social services, which flies in the face of the usual far right rhetoric.

Which candidate has a plan to save Oregon’s students?
