First Lady Barbara Bush went home on comfort care this weekend, a decision that I respected for any number of reasons. She passed away today. Her sense of humor was notorious, and if reports are correct, it remained intact to the end. She was able to die peacefully at home with her family around her. We should all wish to be so lucky.

Her hair reminded me of my mother’s own, always grey or white. Trying to find Mom in a store usually meant looking for the puffy cloud of trouble just visible over shopping racks. In that same vein, I thought that joining the clouds was a perfect transition for Mrs. Bush. Rest in Peace, ma’am.
